30 things in 30 years

Today I hit the big 3-0. Happy Birthday to me!

I’ve sort of been celebrating my birthday for the past couple of weeks. I saw Lady Antebellum at the Ryman, went to see Remember Me, and went car shopping with Kristi and Earl. None of that was officially “birthday” stuff, but pretty much the entire month of March is all about me. I’ve also received some gifts and had a mom-cooked meal. Today, I’m going on a mini road trip with Sherry and Nikki to do some shopping. And then tomorrow will be the annual trip to Olive Garden since the one in BG is STILL not open yet.

And it’s strange how soon you forget

Hmmmm. So how have you been? It seems like it’s been a while, right?

Nothing big has happened in the almost two months since I last posted. Here are a couple of things I find interesting these days:

  • Anna Nalick has a new song called “Shine”. It’s available on Itunes or you can listen to it here.
  • March Madness is almost here. Big game coming up Thursday for the Toppers. Is this the year they will make it to the final four? :-)
  • American Idol is back! The guys performed for the first time tonight, and I was kind of bored. A few were ok, but nobody stood out to me. Hopefully, the girls will be more exciting tomorrow night.
  • If my accountant is able to get me a tax refund, I’m thinking about buying an Ipod nano. I think it’s time to upgrade from my 10lb creative zen touch, don’t you? I may even decide to use my rebate money to replace my 13in tv!
  • My birthday is in one month from today! Be sure to do your shopping early. (Ok, basically anything with a seashell on it will make me happy. It’s a sickness, I know.)

When nights were clear, you were the first star that I’d see

Today is day 3 of my vacation. Have I mentioned I get two weeks off for Christmas? And that I get paid for it? Oh, how I love my job. I can’t believe three days are gone already!

I spent Wednesday finishing my Christmas shopping and gift wrapping. Thursday, I did some “spring” cleaning and then Kristi and I went to see Daughtry in Nashville. It was a really good show. I think he did all of the songs from the cd. Our seats weren’t the greatest but they were not as bad as I thought “limited view” seats would be. Click here to see my pictures.

haircut.jpgToday, I lost 5 pounds at least…..of hair! I finally went and got it cut. My hair had gotten so long it was driving me crazy. Plus, I somehow never got around to getting my “fall” color. So today I got a bunch chopped off and a new fall/winter color. Let me know what you think in the comments (and by that I mean only if you like it. Keep any negative comments to yourself :-) ).

I don’t wanna hear about your wonderful life

The concert last night was great. The camera nazis were in full force, so I only got one good picture.

The sound is so great at the Ryman. I wish every concert was there. She sang most of my favorite songs. I did get a little nervous every time she told the crowd to “JUMP!”. The floor would start shaking and I was a little worried the balcony might come down on me.

I love Kelly. She has a great voice and some awesome songs. But, when will she learn to keep her mouth shut? She might have more cd sells and less management issues if she would quit insisting on telling everyone about her “artistic integrity” and how she knows more than the people at her label (as she did last night). I’m all for her doing the music she wants to do, but maybe it would be more effective if she wouldn’t try to point it out all the time.

Well, oh, can’t you see

Friday night was great. We went to the Melting Pot with a bunch of people before the concert. It was a lot of fun. Very expensive, but the food was good and I’d never been there before so that made it worth the price. The only downside was that we missed seeing Gary Allan because the meal took so long. It should have taken even longer so kudos to the waiter that made sure Kristi and I got all the courses before we had to leave to go see Keith.

Words cannot express how good the concert was. He played for almost 3 hours! There was a huge screen at the back of the stage so we could see everything even though we were not in the best seats. There was also a little stage in the middle of the floor – that’s where I got my best pictures. He sang almost all of my favorite songs, and Martina Mcbride came out and sang “Broken Wing” near the end of the show. Except for the rude woman that kept telling me to sit down and Kristi losing her voice, it was a great concert experience. Click here to see my pictures.

Also, something to add to my tips on concert going that i posted a while back: Always check the time that the parking garage closes. You never know when a concert might run a little late, and that moment of realizing you might be stranded is not fun.

Tonight is our Kelly Clarkson concert at the Ryman. Hopefully Kristi is saving her voice today so that she can help belt out “Since you’ve been gone”.

Happy Thanksgiving!

It’s been a while since my last post :-) I have a bunch of cds I could do reviews for, but there are not enough hours in the day.

Lots of stuff going on…Tomorrow is turkey day. WKU plays Gonzaga at 10:30pm, and then Kristi, Earl and I are starting our Black Friday shopping as soon as the game’s over. We’re driving down to Lebanon, TN to go to an outlet mall that opens at midnight. Then, we’ll come back to BG to do some more shopping Friday morning. I have a feeling I will be very tired this weekend!

A few concerts coming up: Keith Urban (Nov. 30), Kelly Clarkson (Dec. 3) and Daughtry (Dec. 20). I’m very excited about all three. I’ll definitely have pictures to share.

Have a happy Thanksgiving!
