Today I hit the big 3-0. Happy Birthday to me!

I’ve sort of been celebrating my birthday for the past couple of weeks. I saw Lady Antebellum at the Ryman, went to see Remember Me, and went car shopping with Kristi and Earl. None of that was officially “birthday” stuff, but pretty much the entire month of March is all about me. I’ve also received some gifts and had a mom-cooked meal. Today, I’m going on a mini road trip with Sherry and Nikki to do some shopping. And then tomorrow will be the annual trip to Olive Garden since the one in BG is STILL not open yet.

Since this is a “milestone” birthday (and because I love making lists), I’ve come up with a list of 30 things I’ve done in 30 years. I’ve even included pictures. Please remember that I’m turning 30, so don’t laugh at me too much or you’ll push me over the edge of my already fragile state of mind.

In 30 years, I …

Attended 374 concerts. *

Read 568 books. *

Fell down 142 times. *

Picked up 1,145,693 seashells. *

Purchased 281 things with seashells on them. *

Collected 63 shot glasses. *

Had some crazy Halloween costumes.

Had some crazy regular clothes.

Had some crazy hairstyles.

Obsessed over Barbies.

Obsessed over New Kids on the Block.

Obsessed over Beverly Hills, 90210.

Obsessed over the Backstreet Boys.

Obsessed over Twilight.

Decided to be a basketball player.

Decided to be a cheerleader.

Decided to be a spectator.

Went to Disney World.

Went on a cruise.

Went to New York.

Went to Dale Hollow “beach”.

Was excited about starting school.

Was disappointed when it wasn’t as exciting as I thought.

Thought I would be a teacher.

Thought I would be a reporter.

Thought I would be a web developer.

Thought I would find some way to be paid for doing nothing.

Turned 16 and became a licensed driver.

Turned 21 and became legal for everything.

Turned 30 and became 30, flirty and thriving.

* All numbers are made up. Did you really think I would count that stuff? Although #3 may be accurate.

Did I forget anything in my list? Want to laugh at my pictures? Or just wish me happy birthday? Let me know in the comments.

Way back when I was a student at WKU, my mom bought me some snow boots so I’d be prepared for walks up the hill in the snow. I think I wore them one time. They’re not the sexiest piece of footwear, and we never have that much snow to bother with them.

Until this year. My mom is happy that I’m finally getting her money’s worth out of them. And I guess I’m happy to have them because I think they lessen my chances of falling down. We all know my chances of that are usually high, so I’m grateful for anything that helps.

I am so tired of this snow and ready for spring. A couple of weeks ago, I could see my tulips coming up. Now they’re covered with snow. I keep joking about moving, but if this keeps up, I won’t be joking anymore. I even asked my boss if I could work from Hawaii. He just laughed, so I’m not sure if that was a yes or no. Maybe I should ask again.

The theme on facebook this week seems to be to go to urbandictionary.com and look up your first name then post what you get. But why waste this on facebook, when I can use it as an easy post and brag that I wrote two in one week?

So here are the ones that I thought were completely true or cracked me up. I’ll let you decide which is which. My comments are in parentheses.

First off-SHES DEFINATLY NOT A MANATEE!!!! (“Definatly” not a speller either.)

A sweet girl with a cheery disposition on life, love and friendship.

A girl who is extremely sweet and innocent, yet she kicks someone’s ass when necessary. (And while kicking will say “Damnit” in her best Jack Bauer voice.)

The king of stealing, is a f-ing criminal mastermind of stealing. Is never caught and is very mischeivious. (This is absolutely true. I’ve stolen every seashell I own.)

The hottest girl on earth. She can melt the heart of any guy. (Have they seen this?)

She can be crazy, but her friends love her for that. (I’ll take crazy just as long as its not cruisazy.)

Anything from tallest to shortest, skinniest to largest, just a person. (Hmmm, haven’t I heard that last part somewhere Diana?)

Those with the name Jamie tend to be kind people who enjoy music. (Somebody should do a concert just for people named Jamie!)

Usually have dark hair (Because we all buy the “Jamie” haircolor box.)

Some have dry senses of humor and can be confused easily… that’s part of the humor.

Female Jamies are fun to be around and can be slightly tone-deaf… but all’s good because they make up for it in attitude. (I have attitude about being called tone-deaf. I could be the next American Idol if I wasn’t over the age limit)

Generally her smile creates a kawaii overload in the kawaii receptors of your brain, weakening the toughest man’s emotional defenses into that of a newborn puppy.

Is very intelligent, but can be a f-ing dumbass at times.

Good from far and far from good

Five more days! Then I will finally get to see the movie I have been waiting for most of this year. I don’t think I’ve ever counted down the days to a movie before. It’s also strange to think that this time last year, I had no idea what Twilight was even about.

If you haven’t guessed by now, the movie I’m talking about is New Moon. I’m making an event out of it — some friends are coming over to eat Italiano, watch Twilight and then go to the theater. At the time I was planning this, I thought it would be easier for everyone to get together on Saturday. Now I realize the rest of the world will get to see the movie a day before we do. What was I thinking?

So to get you (and me) through the next 5 days, I offer 5 things to occupy your time:

Go to party one superstore to stare at the life-size Edward Cullen. Maybe take a picture with it.

Record all the talkshows this week and count how many times Taylor says he put on 30 pounds of muscle, Kristen refuses to say if she and Rob are together, and Rob says something goofy in a very hot British accent.

Continue your “research” using google images to decide if you are Team Edward or Team Jacob.

Watch the 3728 clips that are posted on YouTube and then wonder why you need to go see the movie since you’ve pretty much seen it all now.

Re-read the book. Or if you are Diana and Lisa, read it for the first time. (And you might want to start with the first one. You’ll probably have to use some vacation time to finish by Saturday.)

Does anyone else have New Moon plans?

It doesn’t help that a few short weeks ago, I was on the beach working on my tan. Now I’m wearing layers and spending my nights wondering if it’s too soon to turn my heat on.

To help my transition into fall, I’ve come up with 9 good things about this season. I originally planned a top ten list, but I couldn’t come up with the last one Click read more to see my top 9…
9 Good Things About Fall

Fall TV. Thanks to my new DVR, I can spend cold nights curled up on the couch watching Glee, Bones, How I Met Your Mother and anything else I find to record.

“New” Clothes. Long sleeve t-shirts, 3/4 length sleeved shirts, sweaters, jackets. It’s like I have all new clothes even though it’s the same stuff I got tired of wearing back in February.

New purse. When I bought it this summer, I wasn’t sure I would be able to wait this long to use it, but I did! It’s pretty hot I must say.

Ironing delay. I have a stack of short-sleeve shirts that need to be ironed. I’ve put them off for over a week now, but I tell myself that’s ok because it’s not like I’ll be wearing them anytime soon.

Crock Pot. There’s nothing better than a hot bowl of soup waiting for you at home after a cold day.

Mums. I felt kind of dumb for planting mums in the spring when they quit blooming after about a week. But then September came and now I have these. They haven’t said anything to me, but I’m sure my neighbors are jealous.

Christmas decorations. Speaking of jealous neighbors, fall means it is almost Halloween. Which means it’s almost Thanksgiving. Which means it’s almost time to decorate for Christmas. All these people that have moved in over the summer have no idea what they have to look forward to.

11.20.09. If you don’t know what comes out then, go here.

At least it’s not this cold yet!

What do you like/dislike about fall? Let me know in the comments.

Last Saturday, it rained so we decided to cancel. Of course, we weren’t 100% sure it was going to rain. So who came back from a week in Cleveland for training and stayed up until 1am to price her crap only to get up at 5 the next morning to the sound of rain? This girl, that’s who.

I don’t think either of us have any big ticket items – just a random assortment of stuff. Usually, most of my stuff is clothing. There’s always a few things that I pull out and say “what was I thinking”. Then there’s always the depressing stack of clothes that I can no longer fit in. But this year is different. That stack of clothes is not so depressing because this year they are too big! That’s a great feeling and a great motivator for sticking with the diet so that next year I might have the same result.

But, there is one downside to this. My favorite pair of capris, the ones that make me feel hot (because nothing says hot like rhinestones on your ass) are in the stack of too big clothes. It was painful to fold them up and put a price tag on them, but I had to do it. Hopefully they will go to a good home. And I also hope that I will make enough money tomorrow to go find me some new hot pants.

I have a confession…I suffer from a condition called “spring fever.”

Most of the time, I can keep it under control. Other times I am so anxious for it to be warm, that I go a little crazy. Here are a couple of examples:

A couple of weeks ago when it was almost 80 degrees outside, I couldn’t stand sitting at my desk at work while the sun shined through the window behind me and every kid on campus walked around in shorts and flip-flops. So, I used some vacation time to leave early. I drove home with all my windows down, went for a walk and then sat outside in a folding chair. (Note to self: must buy some better outdoor seating before summer.)

One of my latest obsessions is flowers/plants. Where can I put some flowers outside? How many pots should I have on the porch? Should I buy some shrubs for the back of my yard? The tulips that have started to bloom outside my back door are not helping this obsession. So, I bought a mini greenhouse and planted some seeds. Then, I planted more seeds when most of the first ones died. And then came the day that I saw a really good deal for some flower bulbs on bulbsdirect.com. It wasn’t until the day after I placed my order that I realized just what I was getting. 80 bulbs. Plus 80 more for free. From Holland. The country not the small town in Allen county. I’m not even sure what kind of flowers they will be. With that many bulbs, I won’t have to worry about not having grass. Just flowers everywhere!

So after a warm day today, what’s bringing me down you ask? The weather guys are saying we’ll have snow showers Monday and Tuesday. Snow does not equal warm weather. Part of me says to listen to my mom and drag my winter coat out for the next couple of days. The fever wants me to refuse to acknowledge this snow stuff. It tells me to wear bright colors to match my new purse and take only a light jacket. So if you see someone shivering and turning blue as she walks down Regents Ave. tomorrow, you’ll know which side won.
