785789111_m.jpgI’m waiting rather impatiently for my copy of “Love and Negotiation” to cross the border and be delivered to me. The singer, Carolyn Dawn Johnson, left her record deal in Nashville and signed with a Canadian label so that means I had to order it (I chose cdplus.com – FREE SHIPPING!) instead of picking it up at Target. I’ve only heard 3 whole songs plus the clips on her website, so I hope it is worth the wait. So far, I’m liking the 3 songs more than the songs on her last cd.

Back before Itunes and when Napster was free, Sherry asked me to search for a country song called “Complicated” by Carolyn Dawn Johnson. She had heard the song or seen the video; I don’t remember which. I found the song, and I think I listened to it a billion times. I was living that song at the time and it still makes me think of someone every time I hear it.

Never Gone by Backstreet Boys

Jun 25

A couple days late on my concert review, but I doubt anyone has been checking everyday for it. Pictures are here.

Toby Lightman was first. I had no idea who she was, but I had heard her “angels” song before. She was pretty good and I may pick up her cd sometime.

Jewel was up next. I’m a fan of some of Jewel’s older songs like “You were meant for me”, “Foolish Games”, and “Standing Still”. Tuesday night, I was not a fan of anything. “Foolish Games” was way too dramatic and she changed the other two to where she said the words instead of singing them. Does that make sense? She has a pretty strong voice, but every song sounded the same: baby voice, then talking, then loud. Plus, she yodeled. She’s pretty funny in between the songs, but a lot of it seemed staged.

Guitar PickThe concert was awesome.  Of course I think it would have been better without Jewel and the other girl and just had 4 hours of Rob Thomas, but nobody asked me.  I have some pictures that I’ll post tomorrow maybe.  For now, you can enjoy the scan of my concert souvenir: a guitar pick from Frankie the hot guitar player.

You Won’t Be Mine by Matchbox Twenty

Mine’s a red icee stain on my grey t-shirt, but same thing. We made the long walk to the brand new Minit Mart today and that is my souvenir. That trip was probably the highlight of the week at work. How sad is that?

Tomorrow, I’m helping Kristi with the Kids on the Block Motorcycle Run & Bike Show. Then, I might be going to the Kentucky/Indiana All-Star Classic basketball game. I’m not sure I want to go to that, but I’ve been told I have a ticket that I need to pay for. :-)

Next Tuesday is the Rob Thomas concert at Gaylord. In honor of that, I’ve added a couple of pictures to my gallery. Most of them are blurry so I guess I was moving around too much. Being that close to the stage makes me excited!
